I imagine you have questions, that’s very human of you. Here’s my best guess at anticipating your questions, and then my best attempt at answering them.
WTF?! Why “manchicken”?
Well, when I was about 18, it was the hay-day for web cartoons. Yes, flash web cartoons were all the rage in the 2000’s. One I came across which I thought was kinda disturbing but also profound was the saga of one they call RatChicken (see here: http://www.ratchicken.net/). RatChicken is a character who is a chicken, but wears the mask of a rat to avoid Farmer Joe noticing that he is a chicken. It became apparent that RatChicken was using his facade to avoid the inevitable. I suspect – if the creator hadn’t lost interest – that RatChicken may have ultimately met the same demise. So yeah, when you’re 18 you think a lot of stuff is really profound, and boy did I take myself very, very seriously.
These days I keep the pseudonym for two main reasons:
- It’s silly, and it makes people laugh
- I’d have to change all of my email addresses and my domain name
As far as pseudonyms go, it could be worse. Much worse.
Are You Just Trying to Drive Ad Revenues?
Well… you tell me where the ads are. I don’t put ads on my blog because this is my blog and I thought it’d be nice not to have to look at ads here. I do have a blog about video games on which I put ads (with very little success), but I will not put ads here unless the blog gets so busy that I cannot afford to keep it going otherwise. Given that the most traffic I’ve ever had in a day was like 1300 unique visitors, I doubt that day will ever come.

Tell Me More About Yourself
There are a lot of things in life that I really like. Chief among those things are my kids, my partner, my running, my coding, some video games here and there, and beer. I like beer.
I’ve been programming professionally for more than 14 years now and I’ve really enjoyed things so far. I have recently lost a whole bunch of weight and I really am enjoying the benefits that come with the new me. This blog is just a place I put stuff when I want to post it somewhere, mainly because Facebook only does so much for me.
